Kaohsiung metro

The world's youngest metro system, opened in March 2008.



Central Park Station, designed by British architect Rogers, is said to have the world's biggest sailed roof






Formosa Boulevard (美麗島) metro station, designed by Japanese architect Shin Taksmatsu (高松伸), contained a ceiling made completely out of stained glass, and is the largest art piece made out of glass in the world.This station is named after the Formosa Incident , the first pro-democracy protest that took place in 1979 which was brutally crushed by the autocratic Kuomintang regime. Those who took part, or were involved indirectly in the protests, later formed the Democratic Progressive Party. They became prominent government officials, including former Vice President Lu Shiu Lien and former President Chen Shui Bian.
