Sightseeing in London: University of London
Look familiar to you? Senate House, the HQ of University of London was used in the movie adaptation of 1984, and the original Batman! It was the first skyscraper in London, built in the 1930s, and the top floors houses the library…I spent many hours there sleeping, I meant studying.
The building is right next to SOAS, and receives many important people who give lectures here. Once Secretary of State Colin Powell wanted to visit and give a speech, but thanks to politically active SOASians who blocked the entrance and demonstrated loudly, he cancelled at the last minute....due to 'security threats'. : )
The Union! It's got everything! Pub, restaurants, gym, swimming pool, bookshop...
Signs outside SOAS. The Brunei Gallery is a GBP5million buidling donated by the Sultan of Brunei when his daughter studied at SOAS. The Faber Building is where T.S. Elliot worked and lived in London.
